HECAC - Children Home Project

Over decades, the rural community of Nepal has suffered from the lack of quality education. On the other hand, capable students have not been able to attend school due to various familiar reasons such as loss of their parents, low family income or lack of awareness on behalf of their parents for social and economic development. 43,5 % of the Nepali population cannot read or write and 47 % are unemployed - all this mainly as a consequence of the political conflicts in Nepal .

This is where HECAC comes in: We select needy children at the age of 4 to 12 years from the all the different regions in Nepal . It is our profound belief that unless there is sustained quality education for young children, it is impossible for the country to achieve sustainable development.

In April 2010, we have therefore opened the first HECAC Children's Home in Kathmandu . Our home provides the children with a family atmosphere, healthy food, clothes and helps them join a suitable school facility.

Our HECAC Children's Home can accommodate up to 20 children at a time, and it also includes a large garden. There is enough space for the children to play and to grow vegetables and flowers. The home is supervised by the HECAC host family who have two children of their own, and who at the same time look after the welfare of our home children and keep up the house and the surroundings.

The HECAC Children's Home is located in a beautiful neighbourhood of Kathmandu, within just a couple of minutes' walking distance from the school “ Mother International Academy ” which is attended by most children.

The HECAC Management, Mr. Bishnu Subedi (Chairman) and Mr. Ganesh Bhakta Magar (Co-ordinator) closely monitor the project activities.

In order to ensure the sustainability of our HECAC Children's Home, it has been our endeavour to receive continuous support. Our deepest gratitude therefore goes out to everyone who wishes to help our Children's Home by joining HECAC and taking on a sponsorship for a Nepali child in need. Let us all bring compassion and a little more justice to Nepal 's poorest children!
